Dec. 5, 2024 — Publix Super Markets presented Manager of Associate Diversity & Inclusion LaTarsha Melvin with the 2024 President’s Award at the company’s annual retail operations conference in Orlando, Florida.
LaTarsha loves helping associates, whether it’s getting them started in their careers or reaching their goals. The most fulfilling part of her job is having a positive impact on others.
“Publix is more than a grocery store; it’s a people business, and the people are what keeps us going,” said LaTarsha. “I get to work with a diverse group of talented individuals, and I want them to know just how much Publix appreciates and values what each and every one of them contributes to our company.”
LaTarsha was surprised to learn that she was a recipient of this year’s President’s Award. One of her goals has always been to leave a legacy that values the power of positive energy and growth.
“I love when our associates see their potential and realize just how much they can accomplish working at Publix,” said LaTarsha. “It’s rewarding to see our associates from diverse backgrounds attain what they’ve worked so hard for.”
About the honoree
LaTarsha began working for Publix in 1993 as an expense analyst, and in 1996 began working as an associate relations specialist in the Lakeland Division before moving into retail in the customer service department. LaTarsha held several additional support roles in the Lakeland Division before becoming the manager of associate diversity & inclusion in 2024.
About the President’s Award
The President’s Award is one of the company’s most prestigious awards. It honors one district manager from each of the company’s five divisions and one support manager who are committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. In addition, the recipients must be role models to others by demonstrating exemplary leadership.
LaTarsha joins Atlanta Division District Manager Tammy Quirion, Charlotte Division District Manager Stuart Osha, Jacksonville Division District Manager Jeff Thompson, Lakeland Division District Manager Chris Gordon and Miami Division District Manager Kevin Donlan as this year’s President’s Award recipients.
