Dec. 5, 2024 — Publix Super Markets celebrated the 2024 George W. Jenkins Award support recipient, Director of Emerging Business & Private Brands Karen Hall, at the company’s annual retail operations conference in Orlando, Florida.
Karen is a collaborative leader who is committed to her associates and has a genuine desire to see them succeed. She has a positive impact on those around her.
“I have worked in both support and retail, and the associates are amazing,” said Karen. “I build and develop my team the same way in support as I did in retail, by empowering, motivating and encouraging them to do their best.”
Karen was in shock when she learned that she was receiving this award. The kind words and congratulations from her family, leadership and co-workers have been overwhelming in the best way.
“Mr. George was the ultimate leader, innovator and change agent. He was gracious and generous,” said Karen. “This award is special to me because it’s an honor to be recognized for carrying on the legacy of Mr. George.”
About the honoree
Karen started her career in 1984 as a deli clerk and worked in various roles through the deli department before becoming an assistant store manager. In 1999, she became a deli buyer and, in 2003, a business lead for supply chain before becoming the director of labor management in 2008. Today, she is the director of emerging business & private brands.
About the George W. Jenkins Award
Named after Publix’s founder, the George W. Jenkins Award is one of the company’s most prestigious awards. It is presented to one store manager from each of the company’s five divisions and one support area manager who exemplify leadership, perpetuate the Publix culture and demonstrate their commitment to his ideals. As part of the award, each recipient is presented with a special green Publix jacket, marking them as members of this deserving group of honorees.
Karen joins Atlanta Division District Manager Kayla Dean, Charlotte Division Store Manager Dan Ratchup, Jacksonville Division Store Manager Jason Parrish, Lakeland Division Store Manager Steve Ellis, and Miami Division Store Manager James Gooze as this year’s George W. Jenkins Award recipients.
