Nov. 13, 2025 — Publix Super Markets celebrated the 2025 George W. Jenkins Award support recipient, Director of Transportation and Maintenance James Sadler, at the company’s retail operations conference in central Florida.

James is often praised for his ability to collaborate seamlessly with store and support department leaders to achieve timely and accurate delivery of product. He is deeply dedicated to continual improvement and treating every individual with respect.

“My philosophy has always been to work hard, do what’s right and treat people with respect,” said James. “Our people are our most valuable asset, and I want to make sure that I’m doing my part to show that through my actions.”

James was humbled to learn that he would be receiving this award. He had the opportunity to meet Publix founder, George Jenkins, a few times before his passing. He was honored to receive an award named after the company’s founder.

“I’ve received a lot of emails, phone calls and congratulations from my team,” said James. “But to be honest, I would not be receiving this award if it weren’t for them. I’ve worked with many wonderful teams and leaders over the years, and I’ve received great advice along the way.”

About the honoree

James started his Publix career in 1989 at the Lakeland distribution center and worked his way up to superintendent at the Orlando distribution center. In 2016, he was promoted to manager of warehouse operations at the McCalla distribution center. Today, he is the director of transportation and maintenance.

About the George W. Jenkins Award

Named after Publix’s founder, the George W. Jenkins Award is one of the company’s most prestigious awards. It is presented to one store manager from each of the company’s five divisions and one support area manager who exemplify leadership, perpetuate the Publix culture and demonstrate their commitment to his ideals. As part of the award, each recipient is presented with a special green Publix jacket, marking them as members of this deserving group of honorees.

James joins Atlanta Division Store Manager Stephanie Bennett, Charlotte Division Store Manager Christy Pfuntner, Jacksonville Division Store Manager Ronnie Mills, Lakeland Division District Manager Milan Kordic and Miami Division Store Manager Frank Roa as this year’s George W. Jenkins Award recipients.
