Nov. 13, 2025 — Publix Super Markets celebrated the 2025 Charlotte Division George W. Jenkins Award recipient, Store Manager Christy Pfuntner, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at the company’s retail operations conference in central Florida.
Christy is always looking for ways to improve the overall knowledge and performance of her associates, so they are ready for the next promotion. She works hard to set clear expectations and works closely with her department managers to provide them with tools for supporting Publix’s future leaders.
“Every associate has the opportunity to grow their career at Publix,” said Christy. “It’s our job as leaders to make sure they have the support they need to be successful.”
Christy said that her husband was awestruck by the news of her receiving this award, and her co-workers were elated. She is looking forward to celebrating with her team, as they are the reason why she is where she is today.
“I hope this award inspires my team to be their very best,” said Christy. “We are all one team, with one focus. When we work together, we can achieve great things.”

About the George W. Jenkins Award
Named after Publix’s founder, the George W. Jenkins Award is one of the company’s most prestigious awards. It is presented to one store manager from each of the company’s five divisions and one support area manager who exemplify leadership, perpetuate the Publix culture and demonstrate their commitment to his ideals. As part of the award, each recipient is presented with a special green Publix jacket, marking them as members of this deserving group of honorees.
Christy joins Atlanta Division Store Manager Stephanie Bennett, Jacksonville Division Store Manager Ronnie Mills, Lakeland Division District Manager Milan Kordic, Miami Division Store Manager Frank Roa and Director of Transportation and Maintenance James Sadler as this year’s George W. Jenkins Award recipients.
