Nov. 13, 2025 — Publix Super Markets presented Charlotte Division District Manager Mike Jelenc with the 2025 President’s Award at the company’s annual retail operations conference in central Florida.
Mike is described as being open-minded in his approach to leading his teams and focused on the division’s growth. He actively engages with others in a way that makes them feel valued and encourages them to share their ideas and improvements for the company.
“My primary focus is building a strong team of store managers and associates,” said Mike. “One key to that is making sure we’re supporting our associates and encouraging them to use their diverse backgrounds and experiences to bring new ideas to the table to make Publix an even better place to work and shop.”
When asked about being recognized as this year’s Charlotte Division President’s Award recipient, Mike shared that it was a humbling experience. He is excited to see Publix’s growth as a company, and knowing he had a part in it brings him a great sense of pride.
“It is energizing to know that I’ve contributed to something bigger than myself,” said Mike. “It’s nice to be a part of a company that has such strong values.”
About the honoree
Mike began working for Publix in 1987 as a front service clerk in Ocala, Florida. He held various positions in the customer service and grocery departments before becoming an assistant store manager in 1996 and a store manager in 2002. Mike was promoted to district manager in 2014.
About the President’s Award
The President’s Award is one of the company’s most prestigious awards. It honors one district manager from each of the company’s five divisions and one support leader who actively perpetuate a culture of inclusion, foster a sense of belonging, and champion the development and advancement of all associates. In addition, the recipients must be role models to others by demonstrating exemplary leadership.
Mike joins Atlanta Division District Manager Jeff Jeup, Jacksonville Division District Manager Kelly Wilson, Lakeland Division District Manager Steve Micheli, Miami Division District Manager Charlie Uz and Director of Manufacturing Operations Brandon Haley as this year’s President’s Award recipients.
