April 18, 2023 — Publix Super Markets recognized Atlanta Division Store Manager Sefik Gluhic, #724, Atlanta, with a 2023 Mr. George Community Service Award at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting.

Gluhic represents Publix founder George Jenkins (affectionately known as Mr. George) for many of his associates. A caring leader with a big heart, Gluhic makes sure associates feel recognized and rewarded for their daily tasks.

Growing up in Bosnia during a period of war, Gluhic and his family received assistance from the Red Cross when they came to the United States. “Giving back and seeing the importance of being involved in your community was instilled in me from a young age,” he said. “Seeing how much they (the Red Cross) helped my family when we moved here meant everything to me.”

When asked about a time that stood out in his years of giving back, Gluhic pointed to an experience from 2022. “Last year, we worked with Habitat for Humanity and helped build a house for a family,” he shared. “When we finished the home, the new owner was overcome with joy. She hugged us all with tears in her eyes. It was very moving and an experience I’ll always remember.”

About the honoree
Gluhic started his Publix career in October 2012 as a part-time front service clerk at #1130, Cumming, Georgia. In February 2019, he was promoted to assistant store manager at #762, Alpharetta, Georgia, and was promoted to store manager in 2021 at #665, Decatur, Georgia. He currently serves as the store manager at #724, Atlanta.
