Dec. 14, 2022 — Publix Super Markets recognized Atlanta Division Store Manager Phil Postle, #1786, McDonough, Georgia, with the 2022 George W. Jenkins Award at the company’s retail operations conference.
Throughout his more than 20 years with Publix, Postle has followed the advice from the leaders who came before him.
“I’ve had leaders tell me to leave your legacy, the kind of impact you want to be remembered for,” he said. “For the many stores I’ve worked in, I’ve tried to leave a legacy of being someone people can trust and helping them reach their true potential.”
Postle demonstrates what being a leader means to Publix. His ability to grow Publix culture through promoting teamwork and motivating associates are some of the things company founder George W. Jenkins, known to associates as Mr. George, stood for.
Postle is driven to make sure his associates are well-trained in Publix standards, establishing strong onboarding and developmental processes. In addition, he is committed to the growth and advancement of the company by seeking out associates with a passion to grow in the company. His efforts have led to the promotions of various associates throughout Publix.
“Building on the future with our associates is critical to the success of our company,” Postle said. “It’s important to make our associates feel valued and nurtured, so we can continue to move Publix forward.”
Postle views this honor as a team effort, saying he wouldn’t be here without the associates around him.
“You cannot have this accomplishment without having those around you also willing to work toward driving your store to success,” Postle said.

Postle was first hired as a cashier at #524, Lutz, Florida, in 2001. He worked in several other stores before being promoted to customer service manager in 2005. He was promoted to store manager in 2012.
