LAKELAND, Fla., April 2, 2019 — For the fifth consecutive year, Publix associates in the company’s seven-state operating area are participating in Publix Serves Day by volunteering at more than 180 local nonprofit organizations. These organizations are focused primarily on the plight of the hungry, homeless and children.

Some of the volunteer activities include painting, landscaping, packing and serving meals, stocking pantries and performing afterschool activities with youth.

“Publix Serves is a way to unite our associates and follow our founder’s vision to give back,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “This program empowers associates to support the communities where they live and work, and to see the impactful difference they make firsthand.”
