720 superhero boxes customized and assembled for children in foster care

Nov. 15, 2024 — During Publix’s annual retail operations conference (ROC), leaders from around the company participated in a volunteer project to customize and assemble 720 superhero activity boxes for children in foster care in collaboration with Foster Love.

About the superhero boxes

The boxes included a cape, mask, temporary tattoos, pillowcase, card and more. The boxes will be distributed to foster care organizations across Publix’s eight-state operating area. According to Foster Love, these superhero boxes provide a sense of belonging. The organization focuses on helping children feel SUPER: Self-assured, Uplifted, Proud, Empowered and Resilient.

“I’m proud of our Publix leaders for volunteering their time to support local organizations by assembling superhero activity boxes that will help bring joy to children in the foster care system,” said Publix Super Markets Charities Executive Director John Doran. “It’s an honor to continue George Jenkins’ legacy of service by doing good, together.”
