Oct. 16, 2024 — October is American Pharmacists Month. Our Publix Pharmacy has more than 3,100 pharmacists and over 8,000 pharmacy technicians who deserve recognition for their hard work. In 1986, Publix became more than a neighborhood grocery store when the first retail pharmacy opened in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Today, with our pharmacists filling millions of prescriptions a year in our more than 1,300 pharmacies throughout our eight-state operating area, we thank them for their work that enriches the health and wellness of our customers and associates.
Recognitions and industry accolades
J.D. Power recently honored Publix Pharmacy as the best supermarket pharmacy for customer satisfaction. The 2024 study is based on responses from 13,505 pharmacy customers who filled prescriptions within the past 12 months.
Spotlighting our pharmacists
Five Publix pharmacists share why they became pharmacists and why they work for Publix:
Assistant Pharmacy Manager Seo “Lucy” Young Son, Johns Creek, Georgia
“I really liked chemistry in high school and knew I didn’t want to become a doctor. Pharmacy aligned with the style of work I was looking for. I was inspired by a fellow Publix floater pharmacist’s amazing work ethic, and it made me want to stay with Publix.”
Assistant Pharmacy Manager Dalia Gergis, Nashville, Tennessee
“I became a pharmacist to help people. I take a lot of pride in my work, and knowing that I made someone’s life a little better gives me an extraordinary sense of fulfillment. I also love how Publix cares for its associates. Everyone contributes to a bigger purpose, and Publix makes sure that we feel valued.”
Pharmacy Manager Lemar Lewis, Poinciana, Florida
“A pharmacist introduced me to this job. I later fell in love with my career choice and pursued it further, which led me to where I am today. My first job was as a front service clerk at Publix, but as I grew older, I decided to go to pharmacy school. I love working with people, so staying with Publix felt like the right decision.”
Pharmacy Manager Purvi Parikh, Lutz, Florida
“When I lived in India, I enjoyed research, and studying medicine was always my strong suit. I love helping people in the medical field. Publix provided a better work environment than my previous job. I particularly admired the company’s excellent customer service. That’s why I chose Publix for a career.”
Pharmacy Manager Jennifer Kruppenbacher, West Palm Beach, Florida
“I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I value the trust and relationships that I develop with my patients. I returned to Publix after working at a different pharmacy retail chain for a year. I’ve always loved Publix, our customer service values, friendly work environment and the support the pharmacy receives from Publix.”
