Sept. 19, 2023 — This week, over 7,500 Publix associates across the company’s seven-state operating area are volunteering with more than 150 local nonprofit organizations focused on hunger alleviation.
Launched in 2015, Publix Serves is our community program uniting our more than 250,000 associates in community service efforts. What began as a single day of service is now an entire week, with events held twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall.
With a commitment to helping alleviate hunger at the heart of our philanthropic efforts, the fall week of service focuses on projects that help feed our neighbors in need. According to Feeding America, 1 in 10 people in America are food insecure. That includes 1 in 8 children and 1 in 14 seniors who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. To help put food on the tables of people facing hunger, Publix associates will spend the week engaging in activities like sorting and boxing food, assembling snack packs for children and making soup kits for seniors.
“Publix Serves unites our associates and follows our founder’s vision of giving back to the communities we serve,” said Publix Director of Community Relations Dwaine Stevens. “We’re proud of our more than 7,500 associates making an impact in the neighborhoods where they live and work. We’re doing good together to help alleviate hunger.”
