Sept. 11, 2026 — On the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Publix is thanking first responders in our eight-state operating area for their dedication to serving our communities.
As a token of our appreciation on Patriot Day, associates at each of our 1,442 stores delivered platters of our popular subs and cookies to a fire or law enforcement station in their area.
Patriot Day is observed on Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance to remember the lives lost in the 2001 attacks and to honor first responders. More than 400 first responders died during the attacks. According to the World Trade Center Health Program, thousands more have since died from illnesses that stemmed from breathing in toxic dust while they were working at ground zero in New York City during the days and weeks that followed. Overall, more than 63,000 first responders have been diagnosed with at least one medical condition related to Sept. 11.
