Publix truck drivers are vital to safely delivering the products our customers want to our stores. During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 10 – 16, 2023, we thank our more than 1,500 drivers for their hard work and commitment to Publix, our customers and their communities. 

While we have many stories to share, our Deerfield Beach distribution center has a father and son duo who share in the love of working for Publix as truck drivers. 

Eusebio Todd started working at Publix when he was 17 years old.

“Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated with 18-wheelers,” said Eusebio. “When I was hired at Publix and saw the possibilities, I knew I could become a truck driver here. I was excited to have the opportunity.”

After serving for 13 years in the warehouse, Eusebio got the call to train as a driver, and he’s been behind the wheel of a Publix truck for the past 22 years. 

When it was time for his son, Rayvon Todd, to get a job, Eusebio immediately recommended Publix. Rayvon started his Publix career at a store in Aventura, Florida before transferring to the Miami warehouse as a selector. After some time, he was ready for a new challenge. 

“I wanted to try something different, so I took the opportunity to apply for the driver trainee position,” Rayvon said.

Like his father, Rayvon enjoys driving so much that he’s planning to spend the rest of his career as a Publix driver. 

“Publix is a great company to work for,” said Rayvon. “There are lots of job opportunities, and you can do as much as you want with the company. There’s nowhere else I’d like to go.”

Eusebio is extremely proud of his son, and in 2021, Rayvon was also proud of his dad when Eusebio was presented with a million-mile safe driver award.

Safe driver awards
We recognize truck drivers every year with million-mile and 5-year safe driver awards. On average, it takes 12 years for Publix drivers to log 1 million miles. The time and energy put into reaching these milestones — and doing so safely — does not go unnoticed.

When our drivers safely reach this milestone, they receive a certificate of accomplishment and a jacket with the million-mile safe driving logo at an annual recognition banquet. 

We also recognize our transportation associates for each 5-year increment of consecutive safe driving.
