We are deeply saddened by the loss of Brian West, whose impact on everyone he met cannot be overstated. Brian was a shining light — someone who never met a stranger and whose warmth and kindness drew people in instantly. He had a genuine passion for his family, people and his Publix family, and he lived life with a sense of joy and perspective that reminded others not to take things too seriously — embracing each moment fully and often choosing to enjoy dessert first.
Brian wore his heart on his sleeve. He celebrated others’ successes, felt deeply for those facing challenges and never hesitated to lend a hand. His compassion extended far beyond the workplace. He cared deeply about hunger in his community, giving generously of his time and inspiring others to do the same. He was also passionate about supporting Special Olympics, reflecting his unwavering commitment to inclusion and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
To many, Brian was more than a colleague — he was a friend, a mentor and a source of constant encouragement.
Our thoughts are with Brian’s wife, their three children, his mother and his entire family. We are grateful to them for sharing Brian with all of us. His kindness, his spirit and his generous heart made a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.
Brian’s legacy of kindness, generosity and unwavering care for others will continue to live on. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
