April 24, 2025 — Publix is proud to participate annually in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. For some children, it’s a day to see what their parents do at work. For others, it’s a fun day outside of school. For Grace Aqui, Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day inspired her career.
In 2012, when Grace was 10 years old, she and her sister participated in an annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day at #1270, Lakeland, Florida, with their dad, Loy Aqui. Today, Grace is proud to work for Publix as a survey project analyst.
“I remember thinking how cool it was to meet my dad’s co-workers and to see what he does at work every day,” said Grace. “They let us bag groceries for customers and stock the shelves, and even though I was only 10 years old, I remember thinking how good it felt to serve people.”
“My dad has worked for Publix since he was 16. While I was growing up, I got to see firsthand how much he enjoyed going to work,” said Grace. “Publix has provided my family with so much. My whole family works for Publix, and I am truly proud to say that.”
Grace’s oldest sister, Bria; Bria’s husband, Anthony; plus Grace’s siblings Emily and Will are all part of the Publix Lakeland Division family.
“My oldest daughter, Bria, just had a baby girl, and when she gets old enough to participate in a Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, I will encourage her to,” said Loy. “I also talk to my associates about participating because, for some kids, it hits home. We could be inspiring our next generation of leaders and managers.”
Grace is proud to work for Publix because of the strong company culture and opportunities for growth. She is attending school online for her MBA with a specialization in HR management. Her goal after graduation is to continue growing her career at Publix.
“I am so thankful that I participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day all those years ago. I am excited to continue growing with this great company,” Grace said.
