April 8, 2025 — Publix and our customers are helping fund important sustainability projects at the register through the Good Together environmental campaign.
Last year, with our customers’ generous support at checkout, we funded projects across the Southeast. Donations supported
- marine debris removal in Florida through the National Park Foundation (NPF)
- coastal conservation efforts in Florida through FORCE BLUE and
- tree plantings and restoration efforts in local forest ecosystems of great need in our states of operations outside of Florida through the Arbor Day Foundation.
“These important projects will continue to help restore, conserve and protect the environment in the communities we serve,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous. “Publix is proud to be a part of these ongoing efforts, and with the help of our associates and customers, we’re able to continue to do good, together.”
National Park Foundation
Your donations support ongoing marine debris removal projects with NPF in five national parks in Florida. Marine debris removal efforts include plastics, fishing gear, abandoned crab traps and derelict vessels. The parks included in these efforts are
- Biscayne National Park
- Dry Tortugas National Park
- Gulf Islands National Seashore
- Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve and
- Everglades National Park.
FORCE BLUE
Through the support of our environmental campaign in 2024, a debris removal effort was completed on the Hillsborough River in Tampa, Florida, and oyster reef habitat installations have been completed in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. These oyster reefs, made out of 80 tons of limerock and placed along a 1,000-foot stretch of the coastline, help provide habitats for fish and marine wildlife and a place for oysters to grow. They also help reduce erosion to the sandy shoreline. Five additional projects will be completed by the end of 2025.
Arbor Day Foundation
Support from the inaugural environmental campaign in 2024 helped plant more than 760,000 trees through restoration efforts in local forests across our operating area outside of Florida. The ongoing impact of these efforts will help contribute to watershed conservation through improved drainage and provide important habitat for threatened and endangered wildlife. An additional 44,000 trees are scheduled to be planted by the end of 2025.
