Feb. 7, 2025 — Publix Pharmacy presented 14 pharmacy associates with the Rxcellence Award for excelling in customer service, performance and teamwork.  

“Our dedication to offering the premier level of care to our patients and their families sets us apart in the industry,” said Publix Vice President of Pharmacy Dain Rusk. “These recipients put people first and exceed our customers’ expectations. They consistently work to improve the customer and team experience, and I am extremely proud of their efforts.”

2024 retail recipients 

  • Pharmacy Manager Lance Faglie, #1183, Fairburn, Georgia, has effectively led his team in serving customers and has shown strong leadership through mentoring and collaboration. Lance inspires others to uphold Publix’s core values and demonstrates kindness and understanding that would have made our founder, George Jenkins, proud. 
  • Lead Immunizing Technician Tarrin Rowe, #1736, Monroe, Georgia, has been vital to the success of the Atlanta Division’s first bedside delivery location. Tarrin consistently takes responsibility for her work and delivers excellent service in every interaction. 
  • Pharmacy Manager Ellesse Quijano, #1484, Matthews, North Carolina, provides exceptional customer service by helping customers stay healthy with her thoughtful recommendations. Ellesse inspires her team and peers, making Publix better every day. 
  • Lead Immunizing Technician Amanda Toole, #506, Aiken, South Carolina, is known for her skill and leadership. Amanda inspires her team with her dedication and embodies our company’s values by always striving for excellence.  
  • Pharmacy Manager Jake Thompson, #1746, Pensacola, Florida, sets a great example as a Publix leader. As a training pharmacist, Jake is committed to doing his best and helping new team members learn their tasks with a focus on customer service. 
  • Lead Immunizing Technician Alexandria Gundersen, #1448, Inverness, Florida, plays an important role in her team’s success. As the lead technician, she guides her team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and provides excellent care to patients. Always focused on improvement, Alexandria stays connected to her community while balancing her professional and family life.  
  • Pharmacy Manager Danielle Emery, #1212, Plant City, Florida, is committed to her team’s growth; many pharmacists and technicians have grown under her leadership. Her positive influence is felt throughout the division. Danielle exemplifies what it means to be a Publix Pharmacist. 
  • Lead Immunizing Technician Austin Bonsanto, #854, Cape Coral, Florida, goes above and beyond to help his customers with their health care needs and questions. He supports his team by training new technicians. As a leader in immunization services, Austin continually seeks ways to ensure the department runs smoothly. 
  • Pharmacy Manager Angela Kutanjac, #402, Hallandale Beach, Florida, exemplifies excellence by creating a team-focused environment for vaccinations and patient health. She has shown impressive dedication to her team and patients, collaborating with her teammates to improve patient care.  
  • Lead Immunizing Technician Nicole Michael, #1150, Vero Beach, Florida, is known for her dedication to helping customers with their health needs. She is a key team member who is appreciated for her helpfulness and positive attitude. Nicole’s support makes her a cherished member of the Publix Pharmacy team. 

2024 support recipients 

  • Central Fill Supervisor Jill Roche, Orlando, Florida, motivates her team to excel. She builds strong relationships with her fellow associates, preparing them for growth and opportunities at Publix. 
  • Specialty Pharmacy Training Specialist Josue Aguilar, Orlando, Florida, is great at teaching challenging tasks to the team, making him a key pharmacy team member. Josue’s positive attitude helps everyone feel supported and ready to succeed. 
  • Manager of Pharmacy Contracting Michael Ortiz, Lakeland, Florida, is a dedicated leader focused on enhancing company value. Michael supports his team’s growth and helps prepare them for new career possibilities. 
  • Pharmacy Supervisor Hampton Cooper, Brentwood, Tennessee, exemplifies ownership by embodying George Jenkins’ philosophy of “Being There.” He prioritizes his associates by providing support and training and cultivating strong relationships.
