Jan. 20, 2026 — Fan-favorite Publix Volcano Roll Dip is going from a limited-edition item to an everyday item to enjoy year-round. The harmonious blend of sweet Thai chili, gochujang sauce, imitation crabmeat, shredded carrots and green onions quickly gained fans after its introduction in 2025. It’s everything you love in a sushi roll with a slight kick of spice.
The dream team behind the dip
Its creation began with collaboration between our deli manufacturing research and development team and the product innovation team.
“Inspiration for this dip came from the growing popularity of sushi-inspired flavors,” said Publix Manufacturing Team Leader Christine Mitchell.
The dip went through several rounds of sampling with select Publix associates to gather feedback, refining the seasonings and ingredients until we reached the intended balance.
