Jan. 10, 2024 — To celebrate our arrival in the bourbon capital of the world, our new Publix Liquors in Louisville, Kentucky, is stocked with over 150 bourbon offerings, including a recipe from Maker’s Mark Private Selection. This Publix Liquors location is the first outside the state of Florida.

Maker’s Mark Private Select Bourbon Birthday Cake

Not only can you eat your cake, but you can drink it too! This recipe is creamy with a rich mouthfeel and balanced palate. It features notes of soft vanilla, pipe tobacco, red apple, leather, a touch of baking spices, confectioners’ sugar, cake batter and frosting, and it has a medium finish. Bottles of this recipe are available at Publix Liquors, located next door to the store at 2500 Terra Crossing Blvd. in Louisville.

Sampling events

A special sampling event for the Publix Private Selection Maker’s Mark recipe will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on grand opening day, Jan. 10. Bill Samuels, Maker’s Mark chairman emeritus, will attend and sign bottles from 5 to 6 p.m. Attendees will also have a chance to receive a red-wax-dipped rocks glass etched with the Publix logo.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, Publix Liquors will host Elizabeth McCall, master distiller of Woodford Reserve. Elizabeth will be signing and engraving Woodford Reserve Double Oak Bourbon bottles.
