LAKELAND, Fla., Jan. 9, 2026 — Today, Publix Super Markets CEO Kevin Murphy announced the promotion of Katie Scanlon to vice president of pharmacy, effective Feb. 1, 2026.

“We are proud to have Katie take the next step in her Publix career,” commented Murphy. “Promotion from within provides our associates with amazing opportunities for growth and development. Katie has been an exceptional leader dedicated to growing and mentoring her team to best serve our customers. I am excited to see the continued contributions she will make to our company.”

About Scanlon

Scanlon, 46, began her Publix career in 2007 as a floating pharmacist in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and was promoted to assistant pharmacy manager the same year. She was promoted to pharmacy manager in 2009 and transferred to support in 2012 as a clinical pharmacist. After holding various positions, she was promoted to director of central and specialty pharmacy in 2018 and to her current role, senior director of pharmacy administration, in 2020. Scanlon is also a recipient of the 2023 President’s Award, one of the company’s most prestigious awards honoring leaders who actively perpetuate a culture of inclusion, foster a sense of belonging, and champion the development and advancement of all associates.

Scanlon will be filling the position currently held by Dain Rusk, who will be resigning from the company at the end of January to pursue another opportunity outside of grocery retail pharmacy.

Murphy noted, “We are grateful for Dain’s contributions, and for the positive impact he has had on our organization and the communities we serve. We wish him well as he embarks on his next endeavor.”
