Looking for a job that challenges and delights you? Keep a lookout for one of our new locations.
Is a new Publix being built in your area? With that expansion comes additional employment opportunities. If you've heard about a new Publix store coming to your area or have seen one under construction, you may wonder how you can apply to work there.
Apply for non-management positions
We often post signs in the window of the new store under construction that tell you where and when to apply for employment. But here are some tips.
When a new store is built less than 50 miles from another Publix, you can apply at a nearby store. You won't be asked to specify your store of choice because your application will be available to the managers of both the new store and the store where you apply. This allows Publix to fill staffing needs at both stores simultaneously, although the new store will have the greatest number of openings.
Managers of the new store will be able to see your application. They first start looking for candidates to fill our skilled positions — Baker, Cake Decorator, Meat Cutter, and Deli Clerk. That can occur 4-5 weeks before the new store opens. A week or so later, they look for candidates for the rest of the non-management positions. They contact the candidates they want to interview.
When a new store is built further than 50 miles from another Publix, we schedule job fairs to allow individuals to apply for employment. Details of these events are announced on this page (below) and on our Publix Careers Facebook page and our @publixjobs Twitter account.

Watch for Job Fairs
When job fairs are scheduled to collect applications from people interested in working at a new store, the details are listed here.
Apply for management positions
Publix fills most management positions in a new store with managers who transfer from other Publix stores. That way we know new store teams will learn Publix's best practices in customer service, product quality, and superlative execution. For more information, visit store management opportunities for details.
Explore new stores
If you wonder if a new store is coming to your area or an area where you'll soon be living, go to our new store openings list. You won't find recruiting information as far in advance as the signs on new Publix store windows, but it sometimes includes stores still looking for applications.
